Culture and Electronic Colonialism

In most parts of Africa, we seem to be losing certain aspects of all culture, though some will argue that not every part of our culture is great like female circumcision, we have great aspects of our culture that the others can learn from. Culture is usually transferred from generation to generation through the family and the immediate community. You learn how to respect your elders - the Yoruba’s are very good at that, you get introduced to chores at an early age, you learn that when your parent gets old, you will be responsible for their up keep. Yes, In Africa, parents don’t go to nursing homes …. It is one of the “taboos”. I remember when I was assigned my first chore – washing plates for the whole household of about 10. It was like a nightmare, I was miserable, I had to stand on a stool to was so many plates and pots for hours just to do it again on the next meal  ☹ .
